While I can't answer the question of how or where it originated from, I can tell you that unless the slappee was wearing football pants (spring ball and game day walk through you wear shorts), it made for an awkward, Brokeback-esk moment. I tried this at work on a co-worker and I had to talk to 'lawyer' about 'what's appropriate conduct in the workplace.' Women can be so sensitive about that stuff (totally kidding, just attempting to funny).
