Back to Back
Congratulations to Padraig Harrington, who won the British Open on Sunday for the second year in a row. Greg Norman had been stealing the headlines for most of the Open as he was making an unexpected run. He was still one shot ahead with 9 holes to go but was unable to hold on.
Despite being the defending champion, Harrington himself was a bit of a question mark heading into the weekend due to a wrist injury he suffered just before the Open. It was bothering him so much that he was only able to practice for nine holes last Tuesday and a few swings the night before it began. See, I always told my mom that practice wasn’t necessary.
Though Harrington walked away with the cup he still paid tribute to the Shark, saying, “I’d like to thank Greg Norman. His sportsmanship on the golf course is second to none.” Sounds as though Harrington knows a thing or two about sportsmanship as well.
